2018 Annual Members Meeting
June 30, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pmFree
The Beltrami County Historical Society will hold its annual meeting on Saturday, June 30th at the Beltrami County History Center. The meeting will allow members to have their voices heard and help steer the direction of the Society. As a member-driven organization, their involvement and input are invaluable, and benefit the Society’s work. Business will be kept to a minimum to allow members an opportunity to socialize. The agenda will include the election of officers to the Board of Directors’ executive committee, and the induction of our newest Lifetime Member. This year’s honoree is long-time volunteer Judy Dvorak, who will also be receiving the Bemidji United Way’s “Someone Special” award. All members in good standing are eligible (and encouraged!) to attend; renewals can be processed over the phone in advance of the meeting, or in-person the day of. This is a great opportunity for anyone considering joining to tour the museum (including our newest display, The Fur Trade in Minnesota’s Historic Northwest: French Explorers in the Middle of North America), interact with board members, and evaluate membership options and benefits.
Following the meeting, attendees are invited to stay for a keynote address by Colleen Deel, Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) and recently appointed librarian in charge of the Bemidji State University archives. Ms. Deel will share an overview of the resources available at the A.C. Clark Library and provide strategies for community members to access them for research purposes.
Finally, we will ceremoniously unveil an outdoor interpretive sign the detailing the history and architecture of the Great Northern Depot. The sign’s purpose is to celebrate the building’s original use as a railroad station and to provide passers-by with engaging information even when the history center is closed.
Coffee and other beverages provided. Please consider bringing a dessert to share.
